White House says that it opposes revival of the "fairness doctrine."

Fox News reports that the White House opposes the revival of the "fairness doctrine." Fox quotes a White House spokesperson, Ben LaBolt saying, "As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated."

Unfortunately, we have already seen Speaker Pelosi take control of the "stimulus package" and the White House passively watch. Would Obama stand up to Congressional Democrats if they pushed legislation through? Would he really lead opposition within the Democratic Party to revival of the doctrine.

I seriously doubt that Obama would take any action in opposition to Congressional Democrats' revival of the fairness doctrine. To date he has shown no willingness or ability to challenge his own party's leadership. I doubt that he will begin with the fairness doctrine.
