“I want the new administration to win this one,” Santelli
said. “We are all Americans. We want to win this one. It’s a question whether
spending our children’s money is going to make us win or not, or is it going to
take its own time to heal, like a cold going away. And all this money we’re
spending isn’t going to get a very good return and when it’s over, we’re going
to be in the hole deep.”
We are constantly lectured that every good American must want President Obama to succeed. I wonder where these voices were during the last administration. Of course, everyone wants the administration to win. If they win, we all win.
That doesn't mean that we have to blindly accept ridiculous policies that we think have no chance of success. It doesn't mean that everyone has to accept whatever pronouncements the administration makes.
The new administration can succeed only if it implements good policies. Americans still have the right to free speech to advocate policies they believe to be good and oppose policies they believe to be bad. That remains true even if some of the policies believed bad are those of the present administration.
