KSLA News in Shreveport, Louisiana, quotes Vice President Joe Biden on the Early Show as saying that "in Louisiana there's 400 people a day losing their jobs, what's he doing?" He was attacking Governor Bobby Jindal for doing nothing about the lost jobs.
Patty Granier with the Louisiana Workforce Commission disputes Biden's claim. She says that "not only is Louisiana not losing jobs, 'The state gained 3,700 jobs for the seasonally adjusted employment.'" In December 2008, only Louisiana and the District of Columbia added to employment.
The report treats this as yet another "gaffe" by the gaffe prone Biden. The report says, "It's unclear where the VP gets his numbers, but they certainly don't match numbers from the labor department." A gaffe is Biden asking the disabled war veteran to stand up without realizing that he was seated in a wheel chair.
In this case, Biden made up numbers out of thin air to advance his position. That is far more serious than a simple "gaffe." A local media outlet called Biden on it, but will any other MSM outlet challenge him?
