John J. Pitney at the Corner dug up a great quote from then Senator Tom Daschle: "Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter."
So, Senator Daschle, how should IRS enforce our laws to the letter for someone who fails to pay his taxes?
I just wonder how understanding Democrats or the media would be toward Republican appointees with similar tax failures. Somehow I doubt that they would be equally understanding toward a former president of a large corporation who failed to pay his/her taxes until appointed to high government office.
