The Institute for Energy Research says that a decision by the Interior Department will withhold oil shale reserves from development. These reserves equal the total reserves of the Middle East. This certainly isn't the change that I can believe in.
Interior announced that it plans to withdraw from consideration acreage in "Colorado, Utah and Wyoming where research and development of a small portion of our nation’s homegrown oil shale reserves had previously been scheduled to take place."
Once again ideology trumps reality among the Democrats. Over the years they have succeeded in preventing the development of oil and gas reserves in Alaska, offshore Gulf of Mexico, California, the east coast and now our oil shale reserves. Then they complain that the oil companies are conspiring to increase oil prices.
What chutzpah they have. They recently showed similar chutzpah in requiring banks to loan to non-creditworthy people and then blaming banks and decontrol for creating the resulting defaults by people the banks would never have loaned to but for Democrats' regulatory efforts.
The world must think that we're completely insane. Is this country really that stupid that we will continue to send billions of dollars to people that want to destroy the West while we refuse to develop our own energy reserves? Will our allies continue to allow our stupidity to keep the price of energy unreasonably high? If we developed our own reserves, other countries would derive the benefit of lower energy costs just as we would.
