Financier R. Allen Stanford appears to be a desaparecido, no doubt to hide from the law and his investors. Like Madoff before him, he apparently heavily invested in campaign contributions to Washington.
According to ABC, "among the top recipients: Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Texas), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), one of the members who took a trip to Antigua where he was entertained by Stanford." This suggests that Stanford contributed equally to both parties.
Riehl World presents a somewhat different impression. He points to thousands of dollars going to Barack Obama conveniently not mentioned by ABC. The contributions to Obama seem to dwarf those to McCain, Sessions or Cornyn, but go unmentioned. Inquiring minds want to know why.
Quick research shows that his contributions went 77% to Democrats and 21% to Republicans, with 3% to "others."
