Military doubts as to the next president?

The Army Times reports on a recent poll:

When asked how they feel about President-elect Barack Obama as commander in
chief, six out of 10 active-duty service members say they are uncertain or
pessimistic, according to a Military Times survey.

For all the complaining in some quarters that the Army is broken, the military continues to support President Bush, who allegedly broke it, while doubting President-elect Obama, who allegedly would rescue it from what broke it - Iraq.

This one fact should challenge conventional wisdom about morale in the military. If it were broken as so often said, would the military overwhelmingly support President Bush? If Iraq had been the quagmire so often described, would the military have continued to support him and participate in the war in Iraq?

Hopefully, the new president will win the confidence of the military and that of the entire country with good policies that are well executed to the benefit of the country.
